Boat Survey

Dear TREPO Members,On Saturday, October 13th, I took an informal survey of TREPO members regarding allowing motorized boats on the Ichetucknee River. Out of 38 key holders (1 vote per key number), these were the results: 6 members wanted boats to be allowed, 7 members wanted the horse power of the boats to be restricted, 2 wanted electric motors only, 1 wanted people to have to purchase a special sticker for their boat, and 22 people voted no boats at all. Some of our members expressed their support on each side of the issue during the meeting/picnic. I discovered valid reasoning on each side. I think we can probably all agree, we do have problems on the Ichetucknee River. Whether the answer is to eliminate motorized boats, restrict the kind of motorized boats allowed, or change the laws regarding the rights of land owners versus the rights of boat owners, a resolution is needed. There are environmental issues which need to be addressed, also. What is your opinion? You can write a letter to TREPO, P.O. Box 148, Ft. White, Florida.Linda Hizer
