John Bryant

John S. Bryant, affectionately known as “Big John”, 74, of Branford, Florida passed away June 18, 2023.

John was born March 25, 1949 to the late Ernest and Alice Bryant in Savannah, GA, but had lived in the Branford area for over 15 years, after moving here from Jacksonville, FL. He worked for several years as a truck driver, before his retirement. John was very active as a Mason and Shriner. He was a Past Master of Hyde Park Lodge No.370 Free and Accepted Masons in Jacksonville, FL, a Past District Deputy Grand Master in the Jacksonville area, a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Jacksonville, a member and Shrine Club Coordinator with Morocco Shrine Center, a member and Past President of the West Jax Shrine Club, the Ballyhoo Buggy Parade Unit, and Branford Shrine Club. He was active in several Shrine Clubs in North Florida including the Lake City Shrine Club.

John graduated from Paxon High School, class of 1967 in Jacksonville. He always enjoyed his class reunions and catching up with his classmates.
John is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Liz Bryant of Venice, FL, Aunt Ethel Raulerson of Folkston, GA, Russell Burnett, III (Katherine), Brian Burnett all of Jacksonville, FL, Shelda Wilkerson of Ft. White, FL and his Lady, Tracy Ogden of Lake City. There is a long list of people whom he loved like family: various Shriners, their Ladys’, cousins and close friends.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bryant, and his Lady, Evelyn
Johnson.

The most important thing in Big John’s life was family and friends. He was known as a man who helped others. He is missed by so many.
A celebration of life, (party in his words), for Big John, will be Saturday, August 19, at 1:00 at the Lake City Shrine Club, located on Brown Road, Lake City, FL.
