TREPO Leadership Announcement – Summary
At the February 2026 meeting, President Terri Hester and Chairman Glenn Hunter delivered a public statement to provide clarity on TREPO’s legal status, covenant revitalization, and the board’s responsibilities moving forward.
Key Points:
- TREPO’s covenants and restrictions expired in the 1990s because they were not preserved every 30 years as required by the Florida Marketable Record Title Act (MRTA).
- In April 2025, TREPO’s legal counsel (McCarty & Fox) advised using the Florida Revitalization Process to restore the original documents.
- The TREPO Board voted unanimously to begin revitalization.
- Revitalization is complete:
- Suwannee County recorded: Feb 6, 2026
- Columbia County recorded: Feb 9, 2026
- The revitalized documents are identical to the original covenants.
- All properties previously eligible for keys remain eligible.
- Membership remains voluntary.
- Printed and digital copies of the revitalized documents will be available before Key Day.
- Law enforcement will now be able to assist TREPO in enforcing park rules and restricting access to members only.
- Board reiterates commitment to transparency, legality, safety, and stewardship of TREPO parks and the Ichetucknee River.
