  • TREPO Board Meeting October 2, 2018 (approved November 6, 2018)

    Board Members Present:  Joan Nano, Marcus Morgan, John Bryant, Laura Dailey, Tom Tramel, Glenn Hunter, Jule McGee, Phylis Rea

    Board Members Absent:  Sammy Keen (excused), Charlee Thompson (excused), Mike Wilson (excused)

    Officers Present:  Millie McGee, Evelyn Johnson, Linda Hizer

    Officers Absent:  Victoria Imm (excused)

    Alternates Present:  Karen Mullins, Sassy Johnson, Charlie Arnett

    Joan Nano called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Joan led with the Pledge of Allegiance and John Bryant said the prayer.  Linda Hizer called roll and Karen Mullins, Sassy Johnson, and Charlie Arnett were asked to stand in for the absent Board members.

    Joan Nano introduced Patrick Douglas, our lawyer, and Cpl. Thomas Mansfield, a representative of the sheriff’s department, to the people present.  A question and answer session followed concerning the recent shootings at Camping Park.

    Secretary’s Report:  Linda Hizer passed out the minutes of the September meeting.  These were read and approved by the Board.

    Treasury Report:  Evelyn Johnson reviewed the P&L Budget and Reconciliation Statement.  TREPO has a money market account of $32,509.83 and a TD Banking account of $31,723.31.  Evelyn explained that the October/November/December expenses would be approximately $13,000 which would leave about $18,000 for repair work to the parks.

    Membership Report:  Michael Foret stated that our total member count for the 2018 year is 767.  This number is 24 ahead of 2017 and 57 ahead of 2016.  (593CC/174SC) (82 new members)

    Park Management CC:  Jule McGee reported that the water was almost down to normal.  The water problem at the bathrooms in Hodor Park has been resolved by Dusty Trail drilling holes in the cement blocks.  Dusty Trail will take care of repair work at Mid-Point Park.  Rock and dirt will be ordered to fill holes in the parks on the Columbia County and the Suwannee County side.  Grill replacement is ongoing. Investigating more parking at Point Park, moving the entrance to Hodor Park, creating an exit for tubers at Point Park are all ongoing projects which will take time and much discussion.   Gates and locks for Camping Park are in the works.

    Park Management SC:  John Bryant stated the water on the Suwannee County side has receded almost back to normal. John Bryant will work with Jule McGee and Dusty Trail with getting dirt and rock into the parks to fill holes.

    Newsletter Report:  Ballots for the October election were mailed with the last newsletter that went out.

    Old Business:  Picnic will be October 13, 2018.  The menu will be port butts, chicken, mashed potatoes, and string beans.  ($7 for adults) The Busy Bees will help serve.  Deserts will be brought in by members.  Vickie Imm will address the members to share the state of TREPO and will allow a question and answer session.  It was suggested that if we eat at 1:00 p.m. the votes should be handed in by 12:30 p.m.  Non-members will count the votes and Mike Foret will check the validity of the voters.

    Terry Downs will buy a hunting camera to test out.

    New Business:  Laura Dailey is looking into how other springs were declared a “no boating” waterway.  Jesse Crane is looking into the turtle that only grows in the Ichnetucknee River.

    “Manatee” signs were gotten from “Save the Manatee” Club to be displayed on the banks of the Ichnetucknee River.  *****A motion was made and passed to donate $100 to the “Save the Manatee” Club.
