Michael Jerome Wilson Obituary
Michael Jerome Wilson, born December 7, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Jerome Edward Wilson and Imogene Wilson, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. At just 17 years old, Michael’s mother signed him up for the United States Marines, where he proudly served his country for four years. Michael was a hardworking man with a heart larger than life and a personality that drew people to him everywhere he went. He truly never met a stranger. Many knew and loved him as “Mike,” the friendly “cracker stacker” for Nabisco, always ready with a smile, a story, or a helping hand. Michael was first blessed with three children from his first marriage before later meeting the love and soulmate of his life, Annie. Together they built a beautiful life full of love, adventure, and unforgettable memories. In the early 1970s, Michael was involved in Indian Guides with his son Kevin in Sarasota before moving to the Florida Keys around 1972. While living in the Keys, he became a Boy Scout Leader and remained deeply involved in his community and family activities throughout his life. One of Michael’s greatest passions was being on the water. Whether fishing or diving, he was always happiest outdoors and was always ready to take anyone along who wanted to go. Some of his most treasured memories were made fishing with his daughter Cheryl, spending precious father-daughter time together by the water. After retirement, Michael and Annie began traveling the country by boat and camper, making lifelong friendships everywhere they went. Their adventures even took them to Alaska twice. During one of their travels, they stopped in Fort White, Florida, to visit friends they had met along the way. They fell in love with the area, purchased a home, and made Fort White their home for more than 25 years. Michael was a devoted member of St. Madeleine Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He especially loved running the Friday fish fries at the church for many years, where he welcomed everyone with open arms. Michael loved his community, inviting friends and family to camp in the yard, floating in the river, and simply enjoying life together. His warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit made a lasting impact on all who knew him, and his community loved him dearly in return. Michael shared a loving marriage with his beloved wife and soulmate, Annie, who preceded him in death by four years to the very day, both passing on May 18th. Michael will be remembered for his loving heart, adventurous spirit, unwavering kindness, and the joy he brought into the lives of everyone around him. He leaves behind countless memories, lasting friendships, and a legacy of love that will never be forgotten. He is predeceased by his parents, Jerome Edward Wilson and Imogene Wilson; and his beloved wife, Annie Wilson.
Michael is survived by his loving children, family, and dear friends who will continue to cherish his memory forever. Mike Wilson, you will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you.
